Japanese and Other Language Teaching & Learning College & University Education Practice-Oriented Long Workshop

Teaching English Language Writing Using Smart Templating Technology

Sun, Nov 14, 10:45-11:45 Asia/Tokyo

Location: Room 04

Teaching English language writing online can be challenging. Interactive components such as modelling, scaffolding, and providing one-on-one support are not easy to replicate through online learning. This workshop will review some of these challenges and show attendees how to use the EssayJack application to address them. EssayJack provides smart, interactive writing templates which can be customised for varying writing proficiencies, to include native language support, and for use in in-person or online classes.

Dr. Ledohowski continues to write and speak on teaching academic writing and has joined the Wize leadership team.

This is more of a hands-on walk through of the EssayJack academic writing platform. This walk-through will focus on 3 main aspects of teaching academic writing: modelling, scaffolding, and formative feedback to provide suggestions and strategies for how technology can enable these methodologies in online/hybrid contexts.
