Beng Hwee Tan

About

Beng Hwee Tan is an Assistant Professor in the World Language Center at Soka University. Having lived in Singapore, the United States, as well as Japan, Beng speaks four different languages. His research interests include Hip Hop Based Education, Inclusiveness in Education, as well as Education for Global Citizenship. Beng is also a dancer and has been actively involved in dance communities and events in California and Tokyo.

The performance in education (PIE) SIG forum will feature a series of mini presentations and performances with a number of PIE practitioners who are enthusiastic about bringing performative elements into their language classrooms. The forum will focus on the reflections of performance assisted learning (PAL) activities that were carried out during the pandemic and new perspectives towards the next academic year.
