I'm an autodidact. I think we all are really. People try to teach us one thing, but we end up learning another. That's the beauty of people, their personality and imagination mark everything they do. So, I try to open up space when I teach. I have my little plans, but I'm always happy for a spanner to be thrown into the works. It gives me something to chew on. This presentation introduces how design thinking (DT) was used in a university English course to facilitate communication and creative collaboration. The presentation will introduce the work of the students and survey results on student engagement, confidence communicating, and developing cognitive flexibility. Attendees at the presentation will leave with theoretical insights into the impact of DT on student engagement and practical suggestions for implementing DT in language lessons.
